IATF 16949 Automotive Industry Quality Management System
Introduction to IATF 16949:

ISO 9001, the international standard quality management system, was officially redesigned from the 2008 edition in 2015. The international standards for the automotive industry have also been converted to IATF 16949 in 2016.

Introduction to IATF 16949:

  • March 1, 1999 Issued by the IATF TS 16949:1999 First Edition Quality Management System-Automotive Supplier, Special Application ISO 9001:1994 Requirements.
  • Issued by the IATF on March 1, 2002. TS 16949:2002 Second Edition Quality System - The organization of the production of components and related services in the automotive industry is specifically implementing the requirements of ISO 9001:2000.
  • It was reissued as IATF 16949 on October 1, 2016.

IATF 16949 emphasizes:
IATF 16949 is a standard in the automotive industry and its application conditions are also limited. Suppliers in the automotive industry must meet the following criteria to be the target of this standard. If you do not meet this standard, you can use the IATF 16949 standard to strengthen your management system, but you cannot obtain this certification.

IATF 16949 is applicable to the “Manufacturing Site of an Organization that Specifies Product and Service Parts by Customers”. Contains quality management system requirements for the design and development, production, and installation and after-sales service of automotive-related products. There must be a "site", which is where the manufacturing process takes place. The so-called "manufacture" includes manufacturing or assembling production raw materials. Production of parts or service parts, or production processes for heat treatment, welding, painting, plating or other processing services.

The benefits of IATF 16949:
‧ Emphasize the disadvantage prevention
‧Reduce variation and waste
‧Provide Continuous Improvement
‧IATF Automotive Industry Certification Scheme Rules
‧Factory Profile Inventory
‧ Past Status Surveys
‧Related regulations require inventory
‧Environmental Aspect Identification
‧Internal Audit
‧Management Review
‧Risk assessment

The ultimate goal of IATF 16949:
In order to avoid multiple verification of the quality system.
